Do I need a referral for medical imaging?⌄
Yes, most imaging services require a referral from your doctor or specialist to ensure the correct imaging is performed and for insurance coverage. Some services like dental X-rays can be self-referred — call us to confirm.
How should I prepare for my MRI scan?⌄
Remove all metal objects (jewelry, watches, piercings). Inform us of any metal implants or pacemakers. Fast for 4 hours if abdominal MRI is required. Wear comfortable, metal-free clothing.
How long will my imaging appointment take?⌄
Duration varies: X-rays (15–30 min), Ultrasound (30–45 min), CT scans (15–30 min), MRI scans (30–60 min). Most reports are available within 24 hours.
Are medical imaging scans safe?⌄
Yes. MRI and ultrasound use no radiation. CT and X-rays use minimal, medically controlled radiation. Modern equipment minimizes exposure. Benefits always outweigh the minimal risks.
How quickly will I get my results?⌄
Most results are available within 24–48 hours. Urgent cases are prioritized and reported the same day. Results are sent directly to your referring doctor.
What imaging services do you offer?⌄
We offer MRI, CT scans, ultrasound, dental CBCT, general X-rays, mammography, DEXA bone density, fluoroscopy, paediatric imaging, and nuclear medicine (coming soon).
Does ScanForLife accept NHIF and SHA?⌄
Yes. ScanForLife is accredited by NHIF and SHA, covering most standard diagnostic imaging procedures. Please bring your NHIF/SHA card to your appointment.
Is parking available at ScanForLife?⌄
Yes, parking is available near Electricity House, Harambee Avenue. We are also easily accessible via public transport from all parts of Nairobi.

How do I refer a patient for imaging at ScanForLife?⌄
Send referrals via email to referrals@scan-for-life.co.ke or call +254 734 123 456. Include patient details, clinical history, and specific imaging requirements. Same-day appointments are often available.
What imaging report formats do you provide?⌄
We deliver DICOM files compatible with all major medical imaging software (PACS). CD/DVD copies, printed reports, and secure online access are also available.
Do you provide radiologist reports?⌄
Yes, all imaging studies include detailed radiologist reports from our board-certified, KMPDC-registered specialists. Reports are available within 24 hours for standard studies.
What is your turnaround time for imaging reports?⌄
Standard turnaround is 24 hours for routine studies. Urgent and STAT cases are reported within 2–4 hours. Same-day service available for emergencies.
What equipment does ScanForLife use?⌄
We use 1.5T MRI, 128-slice CT, Carestream CS 9300 CBCT, digital X-ray, 4D ultrasound, and digital mammography systems — all regularly calibrated and maintained.
Do you accept insurance billing for referred patients?⌄
Yes, we accept NHIF, SHA, and most private insurance plans. Direct billing is available for corporate and insurance providers. Contact us to set up a billing arrangement.
